With the limitations on social gatherings still in place, there unfortunately were not any public celebrations for the 2021 Chinese New Year. Although we wish we could put some type of physical or virtual celebration together, we knew that many in our community would not know how to get their favorite Chinese New Year foods.
In order to help our local restaurants and vendors as well as the community, United Chinese Society established an on-line ordering website for the public to order favorites like jai, gau, jin dui, tong goh (candied fruits and vegetables), and even peanut candy!
With the generous help of the UCS trustees, Honolulu Chinese Jaycees, HomeStreet Bank employees, and many other volunteers, we successfully distributed the orders. Thank you to all who supported the Chinatown merchants!
